This is a very beautiful place for a honeymoon, a wedding anniversary, for writing, for reading a good book (books available too in different languages!), but if you like to be more active: there are lots of opportunities to explore the countryside by foot, bicycle or by car.
Holiday destination
The Kaakberg is next to our house. beautiful located in the countryside at the
IJsselmeer dike very near Edam, an old "cheese’ town. You can go to the North Sea, the bulb fields etc. It is a great place for bird watching and if you like horses you can watch the neighbor training his horses at sunset.
Getting there
From Amsterdam it is 25 km by car. There is a bus to Edam. The apartment is 5 km from the busstation in Edam. There is no public transportation, but we offer two bikes for the guests.

Country & Lake is a beautiful quiet, well appointed space - perfect for a creative retreat. Surrounded by peaceful countryside and across from beautiful Ijsselmeer and its historic dike, it is spacious and comfortable. Onny & Saskia were excellent hosts. With easy access to Amsterdam from nearby Edam, it is perfectly situated for a quiet country holiday while remaining accessible to the tourist attractions of Amsterdam and surrounds.

Wir sind Ende der Sommerferien bei Saskia und Onny gewesen und hatten, nicht übertrieben, noch nie einen so schönen und entspannten Urlaub. Dazu hat sicherlich auch das große Appartment beigetragen. Die Räume sind hell, groß und freundlich, mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Es sind im gesamten Wohnbereich Holzdielen verlegt, das Ess-/Wohnzimmer besticht durch viel Glas und freien Blick auf die Felder, das Schlafzimmer ist offen bis zum Dachgebälk und man hat einen wunderbaren Blick auf das Ijsselmeer. Wir waren vier Personen + Hund und hatten genügend Platz. Edam liegt direkt nebenan, ebenso wie Amsterdam, die Nordsee und Friesland sind ca. 45 Minuten entfernt. Man muß nur über den Deich und ist direkt am (Muschel-)Strand. Einfach wunderschön und für jeden etwas dabei:)
