Other recreational opportunities
The Rheingau-Taunus district couldn't be more rich in contrasts. Opening up the multi-faceted tourist roads of the region. While the "German Limesstrasse" has Roman monuments, the "Bäderstrasse" connects the beautful spa towns. For wine lovers there are 70 km of "Rheingau Riesling Route" for plenty of enjoyment in exploring.
Holiday destination
The holiday farm is located a bit above Burg Hohenstein, a small village on the Aar in the Rheingau-Taunus district. There are a number of hiking paths for exploring the forested and picturesque environment.
For example on the Aar ridgeway, where even the Romans walked. Advanced cyclists and mountain bikers also have plenty of fun here. And if you just want to relax, do it on our terrace with wonderful view of the Hohenstein castle ruins.
Getting there
Coming from Wiesbaden on the B54 towards Taunusstein/Limburg. On the way, you pass the towns of Bleidenstadt and Adolfseck, ignore the junction for Burg Hohenstein-Oberdorf, and then take the next left into Unterdorf.
Behind the second house on the right, turn right onto an unpaved road. A few metres later you are in front of a barrier with an intercom. Ring and it will be opened. After another 250 metres you've reached our train station.

The transfer in a regional taxi (maximum 8 people) costs 40 EUR from downtown Wiesbaden to the Hohenstein the train station.

Wir haben den wunderschön restaurierten Bahnhof Hohenstein für zwei Übernachtungen gemietet, um dort mit Freunden eine Whiskey Verkostung erlesener Whiskey Sorten mit leckerem Essen durchzuführen.
Die Verkostung unter dem Dach des alten Bahnhofs passte vom Ambiente her hierfür perfekt. Das Vorhaben war ein Riesen Erfolg. Die Räumlichkeiten boten uns genug Platz um mit unserer Gruppe dieses Unterfangen anzugehen.
Wir konnten die sehr gut ausgestattete Küche für die Vorbereitung der Speisen und das schöne Wohnzimmer für den Event nutzen. Den vorhandenen Seminarraum hätten wir auch einbeziehen können, was aber auf Grund des mannigfaltigen vorhandenen Platzangebotes gar nicht notwendig war. Dies alles war im Preis inbegriffen. Die Zimmer sind herrlich ausgestattet und die Sauna im Dachgeschoss ist ein Traum.

Mit unserer größeren Familie (10 Erwachsene, 2 Jugendliche, 1 Kleinkind) waren wir zum ersten Mal im Bahnhof Hohenstein. Er gefile uns schon von den Bildern dieser Seite her so gut, dass wir nicht erwartet hätten, dass die Wirklichkeit dies noch übertrifft! Bestens ausgestattet in Seminarraum, Küche, Bädern und Schlafräumen, ist der Bahnhof überall liebevoll mit nostalgischen Utensilien einer vergangenen Eisenbahnzeit dekoriert. Einfach eine wundervolle Atmosphäre. Zudem ist das Haus wunderschön gelegen im Aartal und bestens als Ausgangspunkt zum Wandern, Spazierengehen und für Tagestouren in die Umgebung geeignet.
