The "Brückenstube" on the ground floor is the smallest apartment in the "Haus zur Eselsbrücke" - a homely, perfect place for two people. Wooden windows open the view in three directions - to the harbor, down into the alley and up into the city -; A floor heating provides warmth in the colder months. The mix of old and new gives you comfort and the flair that characterizes all of our Tangermünder houses.
The house is lovingly restored fishermen´s home from 1629. A jewel because of it´s location. In front of the house spans a little bridge over the old way leading out of the city to the river, just in front of medieval main citygate. We call the little bridge "Eselsbrücke".
We love strolling through the picturesque streets of Tangermünde. Or jog along the banks of the Elbe along paved paths. Great: A trip over to Jerichow, to Arneburg or to the restaurant in Storkau Manor directly at the mighty river. Or devour in W. Scotts epic „Lady of the Lake“ in the captains outlook on second floor.
For many people the northern Saxony-Anhalt still is Terra Incognita. This unknown land lies halfway between Wolfsburg and Berlin. Too far for an afternoon trip; too far from the sea, from the Alps, from the motorway.
This is a pity, because only a few people discover Tangermünde. The wide landscape along theriver, and Tangermünde dream a thousand year old sleep. So old is the city; in 2009 the millennium was celebrated.
It´s 200 km from Hannover or Hamburg and only 120 km from Berlin to Tangermünde. The little old town is very close to Stendal. You can reach Tangermünde by train via Stendal, on bicycle traveling on the Elbe cycling track, by boat traveling on the river Elbe or by car via Magdeburg, Wolfsburg or Rathenow. Tangermünde is a stopover on the St. James Way from Brandenburg to Saxony Anhalt.
