The building was constructed in the Prologise-Moorish style. It is authentic but still comfortable. The house has a living space of over 100 m² and bed rooms for 4 persons. The installed electric heating makes it habitable and comfortable.
It was erected in 1988 and consists on the ground floor in:
Living/Dining room with inglenook (42 m²), a fully equipped kitchen (8 m²), guest bathroom and storage room (4 m²) as well as a ground floor patio, which can be reached from the living room.
The courtyard has a little well and a illuminated historic deep well, blossoming potted plant as well as high-quality terrace furniture.
On the first floor, there are two bed rooms (both with day light and floor-to-ceiling French windows, 19/13 m²) with double bed and two single beds, respectively. Additionally, there is a daylight bathroom with a shower bathtub (8 m²).
In the attic, there is a furnished roof terrace with outdoor shower. From there, one has a beautiful view over the city, the typical hipped roofs and roof gardens of Tavira, over the castle complex and some famous churches.

The property offers a wasching maschine, dish washer, 2x flat screen satellite TV/radio (Astra, Eutelsat), DVD player, stereo system, telephone (cordless telephone on each floor), internet inclusive (DSL-speed, Wi-Fi). An additional refrigerator on the roof terrace.
There are good shopping facilities, numerous restaurants and cafes in the close proximity. The entire city is within walking distance. The city is located on Rio Gilao, about 1 km before its mouth in the Atlantic, on the edge of a lagoon (Nature reserve Ria Formosa). On the offshore islands you can find kilometres of beautiful sandy beaches, which can be reached by the holiday house in different ways by vehicle and also within walking distance by boat or passenger ferry.
The house is authentic but comfortable and offers a cosy atmosphere. You live quietly, but still in the middle of the southern flair. The large market hall, the modern library, the museum and the exhibition hall as well as numerous small and large shops and not least a few historic churches and buildings are just a few minutes away. The mountains of the Serra are also near by and inviting.
Golf: 6 golf courses are available within 20 minutes (inter alia: Monte Rei); in 30 minutes
You can reach more than a dozen among others (inter alia: San Lorenzo, Vilamoura)
The holiday house is located in the south of Portugal at the east Algarve (Sandalgarve), ca. 28 km from the internal airport of Faro and 25 km from the spanish boarder (Andalusia). It is situated in the old town of Tavira, Travessa Dr. Miguel Bombarda 14-16, in little and quiet side street
Faro airport (+ rental car, bus / taxi) - about 35 km
Most of our guests travel via Faro Airport and take a rental car (we are happy to arrange a cheap rate with a local car rental partner). The arrival via Lisbon is also easy by train or bus.

We are retired since 2010 and spend 4-5 months per year in Tavira. Due due a significant growth of our family, we bought the neighbouring property (unfinished building) and restored it completely. Thus we succeeded in creating two usable properties and houses, to be used separately or in conjunction, which make it possible to spend our holidays with our children and grandchildren. Rental only possible during the free times.
