The district of Schönfeld is located on the eastern outskirts of Dresden in the charming and so-called "Schönfeld highlands" above the Elbe valley and near Pillnitz Castle.
Schönfeld is an ideal starting point for exploring Dresden and for excursions into the attractive historic area between Meißen and Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland. The "Alter Bahndamm" hiking and biking trail passes through here, connecting the Dresden Heath and the Elbe valley / Saxon Switzerland.
