About 3 km away, you'll find North Holland's largest children's amusement park called Goldvis. Entry for children costs approximately €4.50, while adults get in for free.
Bike tours head towards Schoorl through the dunes to Bergen and Egmond. If you have time, you should take a trip to Den Helder. There, you'll find Holland's largest naval port with a Navy Museum. From here, you can also take the ferry to the island of Texel. A visit to Enkhuizen in the Zuiderzee Museum is also worthwhile. It's a huge open-air museum with an attached indoor museum featuring exhibits from the Dutch East India Company. Visiting the famous cheese market (only in summer) in Alkmaar is always an experience. A visit to Den Helder is also recommended. Here, there is a Navy Museum with a Russian submarine that can be toured. There is also a fort built by Napoleon. The historical towns of Hoorn, Medemblik, and Enkhuizen on the IJsselmeer are about a half-hour drive away. The same distance to Zaanse Schans with an open-air museum. Here you'll find various windmills still in operation for tourists, such as an oil mill, sawmill, or grain mill.
Holiday destination
Nestled among dunes, right by the sea, is the seaside resort of Petten. The village extends northward into a wooded dune landscape with small lakes, riding and hiking trails. To the south, you'll find one of the widest beaches in all of the Netherlands. Petten is a friendly beach town. In the village center, around the market square, various markets take place regularly. At the local tennis club, you can swing your racket for a fee. Additionally, Petten offers a supermarket with a bakery (about 100 m), some restaurants, and other small shops. A leisure park "De Gouldbis" is located 3 km away, and about 6 km away in Tuitjenhorn there is a zoo with exotic animals. A swimming pool with sauna is available 3 km away in Park Campanula. The residence 'Petten Beach' with apartments is situated right in the town center, close to the dunes. The well-known and partly historical cities such as Alkmaar - famous for its cheese market - Den Helder - with its naval port and ferry to Texel, as well as Hoorn, Medemblik, and Enkhuizen - with the Zuiderzee Museum - are quickly accessible by car.
