Gspon, a picturesque mountain village in the Saas Valley, lies just above the junction of the Saas and Matter valleys,
not far from the well-known health resorts of Saas Fee and Zermatt.
The first documented mention of the village dates back to 1237 when it was called Guechebon.
Getting there
Route description
Staldenried - Gspon lies in the front Visp valley, directly above the fork in the Saas and Nikolai valleys, at the ends of which lie the world-famous health resorts of Saas Fee and Zermatt.
Staldenried can be easily reached by car in 20 minutes from the district capital of Visp, 10 kilometres away. You need small change for parking. There are strict controls and the buses are expensive. You can also pay with Twint and simply extend the time with your mobile phone (approx. 20.- per week). The small mountain village of Gspon can be reached by cable car from Staldenried in just over 7 minutes at a lofty height.
