Our holiday apartment is located in Ehlscheid, about 10 km from Neuwied and approximately 25 km from Koblenz.
Ehlscheid has about 1,600 inhabitants and is situated in the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park (365 m above sea level), 9 km from the A3 motorway. Particularly, the mild stimulating climate alleviates complaints related to the heart, circulation, and respiratory system. The village features two restaurants, a café, as well as doctors, a therapy center, and a dentist. Fresh rolls and other baked goods are available in the village. A supermarket, a grocery discounter, and a drugstore are located 2 km away.
The Ehlscheid spa facilities with the barefoot path and wading pool are the ideal starting point for tours through the beautiful landscape of the Westerwald. The Guest House with public restrooms and a book exchange is located in the middle of the spa park and is open daily from 8 AM to 6 PM. Here, the terrace can also be used in nice weather.
The Klosterweg, a certified premium hiking trail, runs right through Ehlscheid. The challenging approximately 320-kilometer-long Rheinsteig hiking trail, the Butterpfad, Westerwaldsteig, and Iserbachschleife are all nearby. Bicycles and e-bikes can be rented in the village. There is also a riding stable in close proximity.
Motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy extensive trips in the charming, winding surroundings. The Nürburgring is a worthwhile destination.
Due to its favorable location (80 km from Cologne, 120 km from Frankfurt), Ehlscheid is ideal as a starting point for day trips. Excursions to Koblenz (Deutsches Eck / Cable Car - 20 min.), Neuwied (Zoo - 10 min.), and of course the Rhine, Moselle, Lahn, and Ahr are always recommended. Spend time in the beautiful Middle Rhine Valley and book a trip on one of the many ships, passing the numerous castles and making a stop in the romantic wine towns along the Rhine and Moselle.
