Warnemünde was first mentioned in 1195 and was bought by the city of Rostock in 1323, so the unlimited sea access was safe.
The first tourists came in 1817 to our picturesque fishing village that had only two considerable streets until the 19th century: de Vöörreeg (Low German for front row, nowadays called Alter Strom) and the Achterreeg (Low German for back row, nowadays Alexandrinenstraße).
