Very tasteful and luxuriously furnished holiday apartment in the heart of the quiet and family friendly village of Maloja, in Graubunden. Famous Nordic trail only a few metres away.
The apartment is classified 5 stars by the Swiss Tourist Association.
The holiday apartment no. 4 on the 2nd floor or Casa La Montanella is a true holiday dream. Spacious, high quality furnishings and light-flooded all day long, with a panoramic view of the mountains. The house is located at 1800 metres above sea level in the lovely and quiet holiday village of Maloja. In the evening you can view a sea of stars from the balcony, you can almost touch them.
The holiday apartment has a large master bedroom with separate dressing room and bathroom with shower, toilet and bathtub. Lying in the 2x2 m large bed you can see the 3159 m high, usually snow covered Piz de la Margna when getting up in the morning. Even from the bathtub you can enjoy a magnificent view of the forests and surrounding mountains.
From the spacious living room/dining room you have a beautiful view to the south and west of the mountains and greenery thanks to the large windows. From the dining table, kitchen and guest room you can see the 2780 m Piz Lunghin and the source of the Inn with its waterfall. The large dining table in the kitchen area has space for 8 people. There is a free-standing kitchen island with large induction hob, height adjustable and illuminated extraction hood. The kitchen island and worktops in the kitchen are made of black granite (Nero Assuloto): very durable and easy to clean. In the kitchen there are ZUG brand appliances: microwave oven, oven, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and a Nespresso coffee machine.
In the large living room with a maximum ceiling height of about 5 m you can spend your evenings in cosy armchairs and a lovely sofa. And if you don't get the heat you need from the underfloor heating in the entire apartment, just fire up the fireplace. You'll find plenty of firewood in the apartment, so get cosy in front of the fire and enjoy your evenings stress-free. Free internet with wifi is naturally available, and you can watch national and international programmes in first glass HD quality on the 50" TV.
The holiday apartment also has a separate section with guest rooms and a guest toilet with shower. The guest bedroom consists of two rooms, a type of integrated maisonette apartment. In the lower part of these separate rooms there is a sofa bed for 2 people, a wardrobe and upholstered furniture for seating. You get to the upper part via a staircase. From the upper "studio" room with its 25 m2, you have a view downstairs and into the main living room. This is a wonderfully constructed room right under the attic with an additional bed (1.80 x 1.80 m), an extra children's cot, a chest of drawers for additional storage and another TV.
You can use the communal laundry room in the basement of the house. There is a washing machine, dryer, sink, iron/ironing board and plenty of space to hang up your laundry. There is also a ski room to stow all of your skis, snowboards or sleds. There is a reserved parking space and plenty of parking right in front of the house.
Layout: master bedroom with separate dressing room and own bathroom (toilet/shower/bathtub/double sink), guest living room on 2 levels with separate guest toilet/shower, living/dining room with free standing cooking island, fireplace, balcony, lift, cable TV with international programmes, wifi, ski room, car parking space, pets normal.
Do you have children?
We do too! 4 of them. Sometimes we don't see our kids all day long! Get dressed, down the elevator, out the door, out into the snow...There is a massive meadow right in front of the house that usually has metres of snow in the winter. A dream for the little ones. You can watch the kids play right from the kitchen window, no worries. The hills in front of the house are also big enough to sled or make igloos.
Ski courses are offered everywhere.
Do you ski?
The St. Moritz ski area is one of the best in the world. Everyone will find what they like here.
You snowboard?
ditto - simply a fantastic ski area, even for snowboarders. I don't know of any slopes with boring, flat drag lifts, no constant buckling in and pushing. Great for boarders. And for the more agile and younger ones: there are cool fun parks with everything needed.
You love ski touring?
...just fantastic...no comments can be made! Just march up from the bottom and enjoy the view into the alley - priceless. But please organize and don't just go out alone. There are dodgy areas, a local guide makes the trip safer and you'll go to places you won't find on your own. Numerous small huts offer accommodation for a night. Descent the next day. You can rent equipment if you don't have it. There is always top equipment at pretty reasonable prices.
You ride a racing bike?
Well, just hop out the door and ride the Maloja pass down to Casaccia (or even further). Then return upwards, furtehr to Silvaplana, there take a left at the Julier pass past Bivio and to Marmorera on the lake. Should be enough for one day. Otherwise there is also the Albula pas to La-Punt or towards Pontresina to Lago Bianco, etc. etc.
You ride a mountain bike?
What should I say, it doesn't get much better. Numerous tours right from the doorstep. Tour downloads available on the relevant portals. Just get out and go, there are no bad trails.
Do you fish?
Get out to Plaun Da Lein in the Murtaröl (probably the best fishing hole far and wide). Just rent a rowing boat, maybe courteously ask the chef Antonio for some fresh bait fish and get out on the Silsersee. Don't forget a bottle of wine to enjoy the day.
You kitesurf/surf/sail?
Then get to Silvaplana to the surfing school. Numerous championships in all classes are held here very year.

The small village of Maloja is located on the border of Italian Switzerland. The Maloja pass starts immediately outside of the village at 1815 m in elevation, which connects the Engadin with the Bergell. Even the pass road is worth a trip. The Italian border town of Chiavenna is only 30 km away - there's really good cappuccino there :) Its really worth driving through the Bergell and stopping in every little village. Highly recommend: Soglio! You'll never find a better chestnut bread than here! And even the houses, alleyways and squares are right out of a picture book. Time has been standing still for a long time in Bergell, or so it appears...
Maloja is the hometown of the famous painter Segantini. There is also a museum in the village with his life and artworks. Maloja is only 17 km from the famous ski resort of St. Moritz. Despite being near to this famous hotspot of glitz and glamour, Maloja has nothing to do with that. You'll find all sorts of local delicacies in the village shop. The AELA lift station is only 5 minutes' walk away, at the mountain butcher Giovanoli in Pila, only 10 minutes walk away towards Piz Lunghin, they sell traditional sausages, and the Silsersee is nearly right on the doorstep. . . You can experience a piece of the real Switzerland here in Maloja. So near, but so far away from the hustle and bustle of the fast life in St. Moritz.
In the summer you can walk to the Silsersee in about 10 minutes and maybe jump into the cold water for a moment. Extensive hikes in the nearby mountains with the breathtaking mountain lakes are a must.
And in the winter you'll be able to enjoy all of the pleasantries of this grandiose and extensive ski area. You can jump right on the Nordic trail from the house. With the public bus, you'll reach the ski areas of Furtschellas, Corvatsch or the Corviglia quickly and easily. Or just go sledding, take a sleigh ride and shopping.
