Holiday destination
The two large, fjord-like lakes, Nisser and Vravatten, boast sandy beaches. The vegetation is diverse, ranging from ancient trees to mountain massifs. Unforgettable hikes, mountain bike tours, and road cycling excursions are all possible. Kayaking and canoeing trips are also fantastic options.
When planning Jelden, it was particularly important to us to combine the cozy atmosphere of a mountain cabin with modern architecture and maximum comfort for its guests. Warm mountain colors dominate the interior design, as do natural materials such as wood and stone. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the living/dining area offer unobstructed views of the breathtaking natural scenery of the mountains and lakes surrounding the small village of Vradal. At night, it is especially beautiful to see the lights of the village and the cabins below. Whether you're traveling as a couple or with a larger family, we're sure you'll feel right at home in this beautiful holiday home.
A premium Skargards hot tub with underwater lighting, drink holders :o), and, if you like, air bubbles is also available (for a fee), and of course, you'll enjoy a fantastic panoramic view. The adjustable walk-in shower :o), located right next to the hot tub, is sure to be a hit. Please note: The hot tub and walk-in shower are only available during frost-free periods and can be booked at short notice.There are many leisure activities available in the area surrounding our mountain cabin "Jelden". Telemark is also a popular holiday region for Norwegians. Whether it's downhill skiing (lift station/mid-station approx. 450m away), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or après-ski sledding ;o), there are plenty of options during the winter months. An 8-seater chairlift and several drag lifts make the ascent easier. A ski school, ski rental, and a children's slope are also available.
What makes this region special is that even in spring, summer, and autumn, this part of Telemark offers many leisure activities:

- hiking (there are various trails that your dog can easily manage :o)
- fishing is possible from the shore or from a boat/boat rentals are available in the village
- horseback riding
- mountain biking/several trails nearby
- cycling/bike rentals are available in the village

- great cafes and restaurants in the village
- several beautiful playgrounds in the area/approx. 1-3 km away, e.g., with a halfpipe (skating)
- water skiing is also offered in Vradal/motorboats can be rented in the village.
Another highlight is a public mirrored sauna (approx. 1 km from the cabin, reservations are required for a fee) from which you can swim directly into the adjacent lake.
A trip on the excursion boat Fram (built in 1909) through the locks is also a wonderful experience.
The Telemark Canal (in a neighboring village about 15 km away) can be navigated on these old boats, which is very relaxing and helps you slow down.
There are several neighboring villages with cafes (the pastries and ice cream are simply divine) and restaurants offering
a wide variety of regional culinary products. We enjoy picking berries to make pancakes with blueberries or cloudberries, and the many mushrooms found in the area are also a culinary delight. A picnic in the mountains or by the lakes is also very relaxing. With a bit of luck, you might spot one (or more) moose or reindeer, which are also found in this part of Telemark. Our Nyne (a 12-year-old Labrador, see photos) had no trouble accompanying us on our hikes and, like all of us, had a blast in the snow :o) She also thoroughly enjoyed the summer hikes thanks to the pleasant climate.
