In the surrounding area, there are many different excursion destinations and attractions, such as the Kalterer High Trail, the Peace Trail, a Kneipp facility, the Rastenbach Gorge, the Blätterbach Gorge in Aldein with its quaintly beautiful alpine pastures. For cooling off, there's Lake Kaltern or a ride on Europe's steepest and longest funicular railway to the Mendel Pass, situated at 1,363 meters above sea level.
Shopping, strolling, a cappuccino, ice cream, pizza, and many other culinary delights in the center of Kaltern.
Getting there
From the Brenner Pass to the Bozen-Süd motorway exit. From there, a few kilometers along the expressway (MeBo) towards Meran. To reach Kaltern, take the first exit (Eppan) off, towards Eppan/Kaltern. Once in Kaltern, you will come to a roundabout.
There, continue towards Mitterdorf (second exit Maria-Theresienstraße) until you reach Rottenburgerplatz (large parking lot), cross it and turn right into Mendelstrasse.

Wir haben eine wunderschöne Woche in Kaltern verbracht, mit erlebnisreichen Wanderungen in einer traumhaften Umgebung. Die Fewo ist traditionell eingerichtet, die Gastgeber sehr nett und freundlich. Leider entsprach der Außenbereich nicht dem auf den Fotos. Des Weiteren fehlten Verdunklungsmöglichkeiten in den Schlafräumen, die Parkmöglichkeiten sind ebenfalls begrenz. Das größte Manko ist aber das sehr langsame W-LAN. Digitale Mobilität war nur über mobile Daten möglich. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder nach Südtirol kommen.
