Holiday destination
One of the most beautiful beaches on Lake Maggiore can be found in Maccagno (with restaurant, toilets, and parking). You can reach it in about 15 minutes by car from the house.
In Luino, there is the largest market in Europe on Wednesdays.
In Agra and the surrounding area, there are numerous hiking opportunities, for example, a high-altitude trail with magnificent views of the lake. Thanks to its location high above the lake, there is also a pleasant climate for sporting activities in the summer. More hiking trails can be found near Indemini and the nearby Passo Neggia.
Boat trips to the Borromean Islands are a great option.
From Laveno, you can take a cable car to the summit of Monte Sasso del Ferro. Enjoy the view over various lakes, the snow-covered Alps, or use the launch site for paragliding and hang-gliding.
The Ticino mountain valleys Valle Verzasca and Valle Maggia are quickly accessible.
Outlet shops and factory sales (Alessi) invite you to go shopping.
Getting there
- Take the motorway towards Singen. From Singen, head towards Schaffhausen, then Zurich – Chur – San Bernardino – Bellinzona. From the Bellinzona Sud motorway exit, continue towards Locarno. About 10 kilometers later, you will reach the turnoff to Luino. At the entrance of Luino, there is a roundabout with the turnoff towards Agra. After about 1.5 kilometers, take the second turnoff to Agra on the left. Follow this road to Poppino. At the roundabout in Poppino, turn left towards Bonga Bellaria. Drive through the narrow village street, over the small village square in Bonga, and continue into the Bellaria residential area. Here, drive down the switchbacks to the lowest road. At the end of this road is Casa Simona 102 (a cul-de-sac with a turnaround). Now, only the 80 steps up to the holiday apartment remain.
- Alternatively, you can drive from Singen towards Zurich, Chur, and through the Gotthard Tunnel to Bellinzona – then continue as described in the first suggestion.
- Another option is to drive via Ulm towards Lindau and through the Pfänder Tunnel (Austria) to St. Margrethen. From there, continue to Chur and then follow the first suggestion to Luino.

Wir waren zu zweit in dieser schönen Ferienwohnung . Der Blick über den halben Lago Maggiore war der ausschlaggebende Punkt. In echt wirkt er noch imposanter. Wir wurden von der Vermieterin gleich mit einer Flasche Wein und einer Flasche Wasser begrüßt. Nach 8 Stunden Anfahrt aus Leipzig war das eine kleine Überraschung, mit der wir nicht gerechnet hatten. Ausflugstipps kann man reichlich erhalten ,kein Wunder , die Vermieterin ist schon lange vor Ort. Allerdings nicht das ganze Jahr. Wir hatten Glück , dass sie jederzeit persönlich ansprechbar war. Die Wohnung liegt sehr ruhig am Ende einer Sackgasse. Die Uferstrasse weit unterhalb hört man wenig. Ohne Auto stelle ich es mir aber etwas schwierig vor. Es gibt eine vollwertige Küche und jede Menge Schlafmöglichkeiten. Wir hatten zu zweit viel Platz.

War in der letzten Juni-Woche 2022 im Casa Simona und kann jedem der die Natur liebt,diese Ferienwohnung nur empfehlen,es ist alles da was mach braucht und die Seesicht ist einmalig,dazu ein Top-Fairer-Preis!!!Hier kann man nichts falsch machen, außer nicht hin zu fahren!!!
