At the southern end of the Gulf of Roses and surrounded by small rocky bays and sandy beaches, this former fishing-village has become a tourist resort over the years. The old town centre with narrow streets, restaurants and bodegas still has its Spanish charm. Quiet residential areas, scattered across the natural landscape, centre on the part named "Els Riells" (about 2 km from the centre). This zone, with its marina, beach and bustling promenade of shops, bars and restaurants, is a tourist centre. The picturesque bay of Montgó, 4 km from the old centre, offers a diving school amongst other services.
Some possible excursions: Dali Museum in Figueres (25 km), Girona (45 km).
Take exit nº 5 (L’ Escala/Empuries) off the AP-7 Motorway, follow the signs for L’ Escala for approx. 20 km. Approx. 3 km before L’ Escala is a large roundabout, turn left here and head towards “L’ Escala Centre Urba”. 300 m on, after a petrol station, you will see the Residence DUCAT DE L’ ESCALA on the right-hand side. In the office of "ESCALASOL" you will get the keys for the apartment.
