The Chianti area
The Chianti hills, combed with vineyards and crowned with cypresses, have become a Tuscan landmark, with a rare combination of natural beauty and seductive quality of life. Chiantishirs, as the English call them ironically, have a plethora of small fortified villages in their medieval main squares inviting cafes to the morning cappuccino, in whose cellars you can taste the wines of the area, where you can enjoy the original cuisine of Trattorias - Ham and salami, fresh pasta, wild boar stew with white beans and wild lamb's lettuce. One should take the smaller country roads between the old stone walls, because one can always discover a shepherd with his herd, which produce the delicious 'Pecorino' cheese.

Siena is perhaps one of the most charming cities in Tuscany. The streets are narrow and the palaces of red brick are elegant. Siena is famous for the exciting Palio party. In the center of the city, in the Piazza del Campo - the unique, shell-shaped place, which is said to be one of the most beautiful places in the world - the famous Palio takes place twice a year (early July and mid-August): a horse race in which each Contrada sends out its own festively decorated and blessed four-legged friends for the defense of honor. This colorful festival has existed since the Middle Ages; Siena is looking forward to this event throughout the year. The week before and after the Palio is celebrated on the streets: at long tables is eaten in the open air - large banquets, which organize the various congregations, for hundreds of people, in the romantic streets of the city...
