The surrounding area
Lake Como has a very pleasant climate due to its sheltered position at the south of the swiss alps. Springtime starts in April and Autum in October. Winters are mostly dry and with bright sunshine. For a winterbreak you crosscountry ski at 45 mins and alpine ski in st. Moritz, Madesimo, Bormio at 90-120 mins by car.
For youngsters: sailing and surfing schools in Dervio, hiking and biking in the higher valleys, for seniors: romantic coastal villages, with good restaurants, boat trips to Bellagio, Como etc and visit to the villa's monastero, Balbinanello, Carlotta in Tremezzo. Shopping in Como and milan. churches, chapels, museums, archeological sites, one week is too short!
