The Altes Zollhaus is one of the oldest buildings on the island. Its earlier function as a customs house lent it its name. It has been lovingly converted into 3 holiday apartments. Each apartment has outdoor space in the form of a west-facing terrace or balcony. Each apartment has its own separate entrance, small kitchen or galley kitchen, living/bedroom and up to 2 separate bedrooms. The kitchens have cookers with 3-4 plates and an oven, dishwasher and 3-star fridge.
In front of the house there is a small communal seating area with a washing area and sandpit. The bathrooms have a shower, WC and washbasin. Despite being in the town centre, the Altes Zollhaus still provides a green oasis.
The surrounding area
Wangerooge is one of the East Frisian Islands in the North Sea. The old lighthouse, one of the symbols of the island, is a small local museum, and there is a small registry office at the top in the old lighthouse keeper’s room. Private transport is prohibited on the island. The short distances and fine sandy beach make it ideal for families with small children. The beach is wonderful for flying kites. The island offers plenty of leisure opportunities. A wide range of activities, such as fishing, badminton, beach volleyball, guided tours of the mudflats, swimming, surfing and sailing are available. There is also an adventure playground set amongst the dunes. There are many paved ways for walking, skating and cycling.

Travel information
Coming from Hanover or Hamburg, continue as far as Bremen. Take the A 1 and A 29 towards Oldenburg and Wilhelmshaven until the Wilhelmshaven intersection (Wilhelmhavener Kreuz, exit no. 5). Take the B210 to Jever. Take the country road to Harlesiel, the shipping quay. From there take the ferry, which runs according to the tide, to the island.
