The house, which is surrounded by lavender, rosemary, citrus trees, grapevines and terraced gardens, was built towards the end of the 19th century in the typical Dalmatian style, and has been appropriately restored and lovingly furnished by the current owners. The natural stone walls are around 80 cm thick, keeping the house pleasantly cool in summer. The house comprises 2 bedrooms, each with 2 beds, a living/dining room (approx. 28 m˛) with a sofa bed and fireplace, a fully-equipped, newly-renovated kitchen, and a bathroom and toilet. The south terrace provides a wonderful uninterrupted view of the Adriatic, the islands of Lopud and Kolocep, and Dubrovnik. The ivy-covered north terrace is an ideal place to enjoy a siesta!
The surrounding area
The traditional village of Orasac lies on the sunny southern slopes of the Dinara mountains, only 3km as the crow flies from the global cultural heritage site of Dubrovnik. The village is surrounded by the villagers’ terraced gardens and by rosemary bushes, almond and citrus trees, amaryllis, calla lilies and roses.
The area’s bathing beaches (shingle beaches) lie in beautiful bays surrounded by pine and olive groves. The inhabitants of Dubrovnik say they are the cleanest, most beautiful beaches in Dalmatia.
The numerous hiking trails in the region and on the islands enable you to get to know the country – the flora and fauna and its hospitable inhabitants.
The renowned cultural centre of Dubrovnik is on the regular bus route.
Activities
Wonderful walks and hikes into the hinterland and above the coastline enable you to explore the traditional villages and the botanic gardens in Trsteno, which date from the Renaissance. You can swim, dive, play water polo or surf on the beach or on the nearby islands. You can also take a boat trip to the national park on the island of Mljet.
