Villa Carla is a very large country house dating from the 16th century and beautifully restored. Once it was an olive pressing farm surrounded with extensive olive groves. It is situated in Toirano, a medieval village in the hills at 3 km from the mediterranean sea. In summer there is a pleasant breeze and in winter the climate is friendly and temperate. The heavy wooden gate opens up to the terrace and small garden with swimming pool (closed in winter). The house is very spacious (200 m2) and has on ground floor a living room with fireplace, TV, kitchen and dining table. The three bedrooms have each a bathroom. The house is at 5 mins from the centre of Toirano and 10 mins by car to Loano.

Toirano is a cute little town, completely surrounded by town walls and well known to all Italians, due to the "Grotte" as in the calcareous mountainous area caves were discovered with traces of human and animal life dating back to Neolithic times. Some 50 rooms are open to the public and are a must. Along the seaside numerous little towns and villages attract in summer lots of guests as the beaches are never ending and sandy. Ideal for families with children. In winter the region is blessed with a temperate climate when even on Christmas day you have your lunch outside and where springtime starts in February. Exquisite cuisine and local wines make your stroll in town a tempting adventure. Loano, beautiful coloured houses; Borghetto, once a small fishing harbour; Finale Ligure a paradise for rock climbing; Ventimiglia, Hanbury's Gardens;Genua, Nice, St.Tropez: a week is too short to savour the surroundings and, if you are here in October-November, visit Alba where truffles "the white diamonds" are hunted and tasted.
