Clearwell, named in the 13th century, means “the spring amongst the clovers” and is found in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. About two miles away flows the river through the famous Symonds Yat and past Tintern Abbey, reaching the Severn estuary at Chepstow.
Clearwell has several restaurants / pubs including The Butchers Arms, The Wyndham Arms, and The Tudor Farmhouse Hotel, featuring a romantic candlelit restaurant.
