The surrounding area
Veuil is a very pretty village which has been awarded the fourth flower to its name in a national competition, the highest award possible. There is a romanesque church, a stream and next to it a beautiful gourmet restaurant, the 'Auberge au St Fiacre'. And there is also a bar with restaurant. The ruins of a chateau tower above the village, and its barn has been restored to accommodate concerts, exhibitions, theatre and film evenings.
The nearest town for your shopping is Valençay, 6 km away. But Valençay's real importance is its famous chateau, one of the most important chateaux of the Loire Valley. It belonged to the Prince of Talleyrand, the great statesman and Napoleon's foreign secretary at one point in his breathtaking career.
