Il Podestà is a 2 bedroom apartment which has recently been restored to reveal original terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. There is a kitchen/sitting area with fireplace, two bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Behind the house, with a separate entrance, is an outdoor seating area in a quiet south facing garden with magnificent views across the Ombrone Valley and Monte Amiata beyond.
The surrounding area
The splendid hilltop location of Pari provides spectacular views across unspoilt countryside extending towards Monte Amiata. This is the Alta Maremma – a largely protected area of nature reserves, rivers and extensive woodland. There is no industry here, a scarcely populated area that has traditionally survived on agriculture. Olive groves are widespread and vineyards increasingly gaining importance since the recognition of Montecucco DOC wine status in 2000. Five minutes from Pari are the Petriolo thermal springs – a series of hot baths in a beautiful setting alongside the River Farma, where upstream there are several pools for bathing.
