The surrounding area
Hinterweiler is a small village in the Vulkaneifel, centrally located between the district town of Daun and the spring town Gerolstein. The small village at the foot of the Ernstberg has been settled during the Roman Age. Hinterweiler is now a perfect place for enjoying holidays and for hiking. Main attractions of the village are the Ernstberg, a volcano of a height of 699 m. Starting from the Middle Ages up to about 1930 millstones were refracted at the foot of the Ernstberg.
Activities
In the town itself and in the close surrounding you can go fishing, play tennis and do horseback riding (2 km), hang-gliding and ballooning, cycling and hiking. In winter there is a cross-country ski run. To the hawk and wolf park of Kasselburg it is only a 5 minute drive. Approximately 30 km separate the house from the Nuerburgring and the large amusement park ‘Nuerburgring Erlebniswelt’. Especially racing and technique fans get their money worth here. In the close district town of Daun and the spring town of Gerolstein there are outdoor and indoor swimming pools. There is also great shopping and dining here. Our holiday apartment is a pervect origin for excursions to the Mosetal valley, to the Ahr, to Belgium or Luxemburg.
