In Den Helder is also a Japanese garden, the Käthe Kruse Doll- and Toymuseum and the restored Napoleonic fortress Kijkduin with a Northsea aquarium.
Both Den Helder and the ferry to Texel you can easily reach by way of
good walking- and cycle-tracks through the dunes or via the new cycle- and canoe-route.
