I was then so excited! The plane was approaching and my excitement increased again. We took a yellow cab and headed towards the hotel. After only a few hours of traffic, I was amidst the canyon of skyscrapers. It was so impressing!
Since then, I travelled several times to New York and only the thought of returning to Big Apple makes me feel just as thrilled as if it is my first visit!
My insider tip for New York
The Post House – THE steakhouse at Central Park! Pay attention to the menu selection!

There are some places in this world that are so beautiful you always want to go back. Being a husband and proud father of 2 sons, I often return for a family vacation to Austria, especially to the picturesque Zillertal. Layabouts and those who are keen on sports will enjoy themselves here.
My insider tip for a family holiday
The „Kinderhotel Almhof“ in Gerlos is perfect for families. And don’t miss to see the Krimml Waterfalls – an amazing spectacle of nature.

As a student, I was once in Panama and always want to return: extremely nice and warm-hearted people and a stunning nature between the Caribbean and the Pacific, far away from tourist crowds. Panama has so much to see, not only the Panama Canal. I plan to go to Panama again in 2012 as “My name is Panama!”
My insider tip for Panama
Watch a “pelea de gallos”, a cockfight, and visit the most beautiful beach in “Santa Clara”

Although I love skiing, the mountains, snow and après-ski, I prefer sun, beach and the sea for my holiday (the risk to get hurt is less then).
The most beautiful spot I saw so far was the Golden Sands in Bulgaria. The sea and the beach were great and there are so many things to see and do. The nightlife was very varied, too. Altogether, it was a fantastic holiday.
My insider tip for the Golden Sands
A trip to the water park “Aquapolis”. If you love water slides then this is the place.

I need lots of snow on my holiday since I learned already as a three-year-old to stand upright on boards – then still with help of my parents. Later, the two skis were exchanged for snowboards and from then on, I need, at least once a year, mountains, powder and après ski – preferably in Kitzbühel due to the gigantic ski area and the guaranteed snow.
My insider tip for Kitzbühel
A drink at the Irish Pub O’Flanningans in the Jochbergerstrasse.

Since I spent my summer vacation on the North Frisian Island Juist for the first time, I come back every summer to enjoy the long, white beach. Searching for seashells in the warm tidal creeks or taking a time out in a beach chair. Walking along the dunes and breathe the fresh North Sea wind – all this is simply great!
My insider tip for Juist
Visit the afternoon concert at the assembly rooms on Juist.

I feel drawn to Northern Europe for hiking and cycling for many years now. I already spent many summers and winters in Sweden and Norway. Especially the skerries around Stockholm fascinate me again and again. The small islands and bays can easily be discovered by motor boat.
My insider tip for Sweden
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the alpaca farm of Jacqueline and Toni in Västra Torip, South Sweden.

I have fond memories of the salsa evenings in the Dominican Republic, the warmth in Venezuela, the Cristo Redentor statue in Rio de Janeiro, the fillet of beef in Argentina or the road trip across Florida.
In the end, however, you realize you sleep best in your own bed at home. So I always enjoy having a cool beer with my friends or family at the “Schlachte” in Bremen.
My insider tip for travelling
Always take the following saying: “The journey is the reward.”

I actually don’t have a favourite holiday destination although I love travelling and go abroad as often as I can. Most of the time, I feel drawn to warm countries. The best about travelling for me is, that you can experience and discover so many new things – no matter if it is a short trip for only a weekend or a longer vacation.
My insider tip
Just relax, read a book, walk along the beach and enjoy yourself!

I passionately travel to foreign countries and was especially fascinated by Costa Rica. While my six months stay I travelled a lot and discovered the most beautiful spots in this country. The kind people, the breathtaking nature and gorgeous beaches – Costa Rica’s diversity is amazing!

Cahuita at the Caribbean coast: you will find lonely beaches where you can relax in a hammock and listen to reggae music.

For me, travelling is the spice of life. I enjoy going to foreign countries and discovering their features. I always have fond memories of my trip to South Africa. It was a journey full of fantastic impressions: the varied landscape and the awesome fauna combined with the people’s warmth make this country so attractive to me. A varied holiday is guaranteed.
My insider tip for Cape Town
It is a must to visit the Table Mountain. It is best to climb the mountain and to enjoy the fascinating view on top. Then take the gondola lift to go down.

“The world is a great book, of which they that never stir from home read only a page” (A. Aurelius). Yes! I love travelling and favour individual holidays over packages. It is the most exciting way to get to know other people and cultures. Until now, I was most fascinated by Australia. Even if the east coast is always worth a trip, the next time, I’ll visit the west coast and the city of Perth again.
My insider tip for Perth
A picnic at Kings Park, especially on January 26th!

During my one-year stay in Australia, I got to know numerous marvellous towns and fascinating landscapes. My favourite city is Melbourne due to the varied places. No matter if the Queen Victoria Market, Flinders Street Station or Albert Park – that is well-known during Formula One – Melbourne has many things to see! The beach in St. Kilda is especially beautiful.
My insider tip for Melbourne

The Baltic Sea island Usedom is the perfect holiday destination for me, especially during the winter months. A walk in an almost unspoiled nature, along the endless beaches, and breathing the fresh air truly means recreation to me.
My insider tip for Usedom
My favourite destination on Usedom is the tiny fishing village Kamminke with only 300 inhabitants at the Polish border in the peaceful hinterland of the island – with its cosy harbour and the picturesque steep coast.

The rough beauty of this country fascinated me from the very beginning. Fried black pudding for breakfast as well, but not necessarily in a positive way. Well, it’s not the food that I travel to Wales for, but the unique nature and proud Welsh people that I like to listen to in the pubs – while having a delicious pint.
My insider tip for Wales
A hike from Dwygyfylchi to Fairy Glen through an unspoiled nature – simply amazing!

I am so grateful to the English for the invention of football, fog and warm ale, I return again and again. The grass is greener, the language sounds more beautiful, the newspaper are funnier, the breakfast is more nourishing and the weather is worse – all this is lots of fun! Besides, London is, of all cities that I know, the one that has a little more to offer than my home town Hamburg.
My insider tip for London
Dance the Fish-Slapping Dance at the Teddington Lock.
