vacation house at the old sluiceway	The vacation rental This cozy vacation home is situated at the heart of Greetsiel, hidden in the gardens of the houses at Kattrepel Street. It has its own landing stage at the old sluiceway. Downstairs there are the hall, a shower-bath, and a spacious area combining living room and kitchen with dinette. In between, a spiral staircase leads to the top floor. There you’ll find two bedrooms, the first one with two beds, the other one with only one bed, but enough room for the fold-away bed which is available. The living room is equipped with comfortable upholstered furniture as well as a satellite TV set and a radio.
fishing port	The surrounding area As early as 1388, Greetsiel has been mentioned as a seaport. From 1464 to 1744, the picturesque fishing port at the bay called Leybucht was the ancestral seat of the Cirksena, an ancient East Frisian family of tribal chiefs. It has nowadays become a popular vacation spot. Houses and streets have been faithfully restored in order to revive the charm of the old East Frisian fishing town. The town’s 28 fishing trawlers enter the port via the newly constructed Leysiel sluice, independently from tide times.
