The vacation rental
The buildings of the Monastery date from the end of 17th century and it was carefully renovated and the monastic character of spaces and ambience was preserved. The "Casa dos Conversos" located in the courtyard of the Monastery was used by the lay brothers who did menial work. Refurbished, respecting the old structure, it offers modern comfort: one twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom, one double room with own bathroom, one small sitting room with sofa-bed, sitting room and dining room with fireplace and TV , fully equipped kitchen, one small backyard with private access to the shared swimming pool. Central heating heating, twwo independent doors, parking space. Free access to the maining buildind (monastery). |

The surrounding area
The Monastery is surrounded by a wood and a mountain river marking its limits. In the picturesque stream there is a natural swimming pool with small waterfalls, swimming and diving is possible. There are many opportunities for hiking either in the neighbourhood or in the mountains surrouding the place. The Monastery is ideally located as a center for visiting regions, towns and places of touristic interest. Monuments to visit include a pre historic site (Carvalhais-6 km), medieval buildings and baroque churches(Viseu-40 km and Vouzela-15 km), Porto and Coimbra 60 min away, Aveiro 40 min, the Douro Valley ( Portwine region) one a half hour, a golf course-25 km and the Spa of S.Pedro do Sul-10 km.

From A1 (Porto or Lisbon) take the A25 (Aveiro-Viseu-Vilar Formoso)direction Viseu and in the way out 12 to Oliveira de Frades. In center of Oliv. de Frades, on the traffic lights, there is a sign with indication of Mosteiro de S. Cristóvão de Lafões and there is more untill arrive to the Monastery |
