We are still very much a real village, still with our village square where the locals enjoy a glass of white wine after mass. But we can also offer sophisticated piano playing and aperitifs.

Our Hotel Goldene Rose and the Weisskugel Residence in the idyllic village of Karthaus, where a Carthusian monastery stood until 1730, are the ideal holiday destination for those seeking relaxation. Simply do nothing at all, or devote yourself to winter sports in the nearby ski region of Kurzras, or, during the summer, make your way through the sweet smelling larch woods all around you, or climb to the highest peaks of the Ötz Valley Alps. There is also the health resort of Meran with its wonderful thermal baths and promenade to stroll along. All of these are within easy reach.

Activities
During the summer months, the Schals Valley is very much a hiking area, ranging from the Texelgruppe Nature Park with the Meran Mountain Footway to the place where Ötzi the Iceman was discovered.
This is a skiing area offering every advantage to the visitor. There is a good snow guarantee for heights between 2011m and 3220m. The southern side of the Alps offers plenty of sun early in the year. Italian lifestyle.

Travel information
Take the newly built main road straight through the blossoming orchards to Meran; keep on this road following the signs for the Reschen Pass, after 15 km turning off into the Schnals Valley. The spectacular entrance to the valley now has a diversion taking you through a tunnel. Continue along the well-developed valley road, and you will find the turn off after a further 10 km. |
