The vacation rental
The ancient buildings of Logis de Beaulieu are located on the northern slope of a small valley. They are the centre of the private estate Domaine de Beaulieu with its small woods, fields, meadows, 3 lakes and the old cottage of Saint Germain (see Gite Saint Germain), 450m from the manor house.

The tennis court and the large swimming pool (8x14m) are exclusively used by guests and the owner family.
The 17th and 18th century buildings were modified fort he last time in the period between 1805 and1825 by a tax official of Napoleon.
The spaciousness of the Gites can be seen on the floor plans. Most of the floor has been kept in a style typical for the region –with red clay tiles. |

The surrounding area
Logis de Beaulieu is situated 500km south of Paris and 37km of Angouleme, the capital of the department Charente, a picturesque landscape with vineyards, pine, oak, and chestnut woods, as well as wheat, sunflower, and corn fields.
The Charente is the home of the Cognac vineyards. They contribute to the beauty of the landscape, and their final product - the world famous Cognac Brandy - is of significant cultural and economic importance for the region.
The climate is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, which is only 80km to the West of Beaulieu.
From autumn to spring the weather is mild.

There is a new large swimming pool (constructed in 2005) with a beautiful view on the estateīs valley and hills. The private road (12) leads down to the tennis court (150m away), the Gite Saint Germain (450m), and the lakes (600m).

Travel information
Logis de B. is 35 minutes drive away from the historic city of Angouleme , which has a TGV high-speed train station. The connection from Paris is direct and takes about 2.5 hours. Bordeaux is 60 minutes drive and the airports Bergerac, Poitiers, Limoges and La Rochelle are all about 2 hours drive, and serviced by RyanAir, Flybe and BMIBaby.The closest ferry port is St.Malo at 460km. |
