The vacation rental
The hotel Philharmonie is appropriate for only about 250 m far away from the sea, at the edge of the village Kalamaki, in South-Crete.
Extensive renovation and change work in winter 06 / 07 give the hotel a completely new, warm face.
The 18 bedrooms, equipped with 2 or 3 beds, are modern furnished with a separate bath with shower and WC, A/C and refrigerator.
In the cosy breakfast area, a rich breakfast is arranged, which you can enjoy also on the shady terrace or in the flowered garden.
The very maintained swimmingpool with an intigrated child pool, forms an optical unit with the natural sandstone of the poolbar.
Here you can enjoy, during the day as in the evening as well, some nice drinks. |

The surrounding area
In contrast to the more tourist-like, active North, the Southern part of the island is largely untouched. Here, the Greek life is much more natural and the climate more mediterranean. Former, but also still existing monasteries as well as ancient ruins, caves and old villages which can be found all over the country, offer the traveller new opportunities for interesting excursions over and over. Visits to old places of cultural interests, such as the palaces of Knossos and Phaistos with their history that is more than 5000 years old, will remain unforgettable. Among the outstanding regional specialities is the Samaria gorge, the Lassithi plateau and not least the mighty massives, which rise from the sea up to levels of 2,500 metres.
