The Holiday House
The holiday house is located above Schönengrund (Appenzell) at an altitude of 1000m. The house is adequately furnished and consists of a living room with fireplace, bedroom, kitchen, shower bath (ice-cold hot spring water) and den (1.5m high) with 2 beds for children. The living room has a sofa group (with pull-out bed) and eating area, heated with a rustic wood stove or electricity. The bedroom has a queen-size bed. One set of bed linens is provided. The kitchen has a stove with 4 heating elements (oven, grill), refrigerator, exhaust hood, and dishes (microwave included). The last room is the bathroom with sink, shower, and toilet. Telephone, radio-CD-cassette player, color TV /satellite, and DVD video recorder are provided.

We also rent on a monthly basis for at least 2 months outside high season.

Location and surroundings
The house is surrounded by 3500 square meters of meadows and woods. Access from Schönengrund (or Urnäsch) is easy in summer and winter. It is a seldom-used connecting road. There are parking spots on the road and next to the house. The driveway up to the house requires 4-wheel drive.
The Appenzeller area is ideal for hiking, relaxing, and restoring energy reserves. The sounds of water splashing softly or of cowbells from the Alps are relaxing in this wonderful landscape.
Small tours to the Hochhamm, Tüfenberg, and Fuchsstein or to one of the small villages can be made without a car.
The Alpstein area is ideal for larger excursions. Hiking maps and brochures are available.

Arrival
Take autobahn N1 Zürich-St.Gallen, exit St.Gallen Winkel, toward Herisau, Waldstatt, (Wattwil) to Wald-Schönengrund. Turn off toward Schönengrund. In the village, turn off toward Urnäsch and drive exactly 2 km to the parking area of the holiday house.
