The B&B

Quinta da Fonte, located half way between Funchal and Monte, dates back to 1850, and is prepared to accommodate up to 6 people.

This Manor House, surrounded by gardens and tropical fruit trees, offers a breathtaking view over the city of Funchal and the bay, distancing only 2.5 km from it.

Quinta da Fonte has 4 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. It has several living rooms and a breakfast room.

The Bed & Breakfast is an unusual and special accommodation. Some have described it even as a live-in museum or art gallery - that is, with reference to the vast collection of exquisite furniture, antiques and Indo-Portuguese relics and artefacts of inestimable value.

Within the estate you will find a chapel and a beautiful garden, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Funchal.

Breakfast, as the main meal, is served in the elegant dining room.

Upon arrival at our B&B Quinta da Fonte, the owners will be there to welcome you to the property. The family shall give you a tour of the house, so that you can settle down comfortably.

Quinta da Fonte is a place where the good taste of its valuable decoration takes us back to the old days.

Breakfast is served on a timelessly stylish and precious table built in 1854, made from a precious rare Madeira wood called "Pau Santo" or holy wood. It is a round table, with unusual, spectacular proportions and hand carved detail - especially round the feet.

Location and surroundings

Nearby you can find a bus stop (Buses no. 20, 21, 22). Buses run every 10 minutes. Since you are nearby, you should take advantage and go to Monte, 2 km away, and visit the beautiful church of Monte where Emperor of Austria Charles I is buried.

There you can also observe the exceptional and rare flora species of the Tropical Garden. You should also try the trilling sensation of the traditional basket chair ride.

Quinta da Fonte is also within easy access to several typical restaurants and there is a supermarket only 100 metres away.

Arrival

From the airport take the highway towards Funchal, leave at exit number 11 (Monte). Turn to your left next to a stream and follow the road signs to Monte.

At the roundabout, take the first exit and go forward until the junction between Estrada dos Marmeleiros and Estrada do Livramento (at the crossing you will see the Pizzeria "O Taco".

Here, please turn right into Estrada dos Marmeleiros, going down in the direction of Funchal. After 200m (about 218 yards), Quinta da Fonte is on your right side, at door number 89.
