Location and surroundings

Faulensee is a village on Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland, it belongs to the political community Spiez canton of Bern.

Lake Thun is an alpine lake at the northern edge of the Alps. The lake is 17.5 kilometers long and max. 3.5 kilometers wide. Its area is 48.3 km ² (he is now the largest all in one Canton lying lake in Switzerland), the maximum depth of 217 m.

Former occupations were farming, fruit and viticulture, fisheries, and marine transportation. The connection to the Lake of Thun Street in the 1830s, the passenger ships (station since 1876) and the Spiez-Interlaken train (1893) opened the favorable climate of the city tourism.
