The Cottage
You are most welcome to Yr Hen Stablau (Welsh for The Old Stables). The conversion has been designed to preserve existing walls and features, use original stone, slates and timbers, and make the building energy efficient.
The facilities are -
ground floor: sitting room with french windows on to a slate terrace and woodland view; kitchen/dining room with high ceiling, original beams and farmland view, modern fittings; pantry; double bedroom; shower room/WC; hall; lobby.
first floor: two twin bedrooms with original beams; landing; WC.

Location and surroundings
Yr Hen Stablau is a recently renovated 1840s stables set in luxuriant gardens on a wooded hillside overlooking the Dyfi Valley near Machynlleth. The colourful rhododendrons and azaleas are at their best in April - early June - recommended time for a holiday!
There is a nature trail and 2 mile walk to panoramic view of the Dyfi estuary.
This peaceful, secluded and picturesque setting makes Yr Hen Stablau ideal if you want to relax, paint, read or write. It is also an excellent base for a more active holiday in this famously beautiful corner of Snowdonia.

Arrival
Trains run to Machynlleth two-hourly from London Euston (4-5 hrs) via Birmingham (2 hrs) and Shrewsbury. These trains also stop at Birmingham Airport with a direct connection to Machynlleth.
There are buses from Shrewsbury, Wrexham. Yr Hen Stablau is 1 mile from train and bus and transport can be provided on arrival.
By road we are approx 2 hrs from Birmingham, 1hr 15 mins from Shrewsbury, just off the A 493 between Machynlleth and Aberdyfi.
