The history of Rab is long and rich. In the age of 10 b.c. the Roman Emperor Octavian Augustus made on ordinary Roman settlement into a Roman municipality and gave it a communal independence that lasts even today. Arbe, Arbiana, Arbia
are just few names of the Roman municipality called also 'Felix' (lucky). This special appreciation brought many privileges that made the island of Rab the most attractive Mediterranean island.
