The Holiday Apartment
The holiday apartments are individually designed and equipped in a Cretan style. The holiday apartment for 2 persons offers a kitchen with eating area, a separate bedroom with a queen size bed and a bath with shower and toilet.
The apartments for 3 or 4 persons offer a kitchen with eating area, 2 separate bedrooms with queen size beds or 1 with a queen size and 1 with twin beds and a bath with shower and toilet.
There is a lot of comfort in the holiday apartments, that guarantees a pleasant holiday for the entire family: windows with shutters to darken the rooms, fully equipped kitchen with oven, refrigerator with freezer compartment, coffee machine, water kettle.
TV and air conditioning are available in all holiday apartments.
Special features
Minimum stay will be 2 days, there aren't fixed arrival- and departure days. Bath towels, tea towels, bedlinen and blankets are available for our guests. Sun shades are often in the patio.
The pool of the Xenophon Hotel can be visited during the opening hours (April/Mai up to September/October, later on request)

Location and surroundings
Matala is locatat on the south coast of Crete, at the southern end of the 'Massara'-plateau. The village can easily be reached from the airport in Heraklion (60 minutes).
As well as in the mythology, archaeological findings indicate that the 'Massara'-plateau was the starting point of the Cretan cultures. Matala is a small village, that mainly depends on the tourism industry. Nevertheless, it is very cosy and pleasant, even during the summer months, as it has been spared from the package tourism with its associated huge hotel complexes.
Family-run restaurants and hotels give Matala its unique character. Cars have been banned from the old town, a while ago. There are many parking spaces at the village entrance, though.
Very good stating point for various trips.
A lot of archeological sites and gorches are nearby: Phaistos, Agia triada, Gortis, Agio Farango

by M. Schmitten from WeiterstadtDas Apartment war ein Traum! Alles drin, was wir für unseren Wanderurlaub brauchten. Und es ist eine herrliche Jahreszeit, um die ganzen Wildblumen noch zu sehen. Unser Vermieter hat uns auch einen tollen Wanderführer empfohlen, mit dem wir dann auch gemeinsam Flora und Fauna erkundet haben und gleichzeitig viel über die Mythologie gelernt haben. Nächstes Jahr kommen wir wieder!
