Location and surroundings
Surrounded by a large stretch of mangrove forests, the bay is famous for its underwater world. Also there the nature reserve island of ‘Ile aux Aigrettes’. So some of the most acclaimed diving spots are situated in and around the bay, and the best snorkeling on the island can be found at the nearby Blue Bay Marine Park.
The nearest town in region is Mahébourg with its ancient colonial French buildings, houses, and monuments. Browsing the town’s colorful local market at the waterfront for handicrafts, clothing and textiles, fish, and fruits and vegetables, is also a treat. Mahebourg offers all necessary a tourist can wish.
