The Holiday Apartments
The holiday flat Ploeckenstein was awarded 4 stars by the German Tourism Society because it offers special amenities to the guest. A cosy atmosphere is created in the kitchen-cum-living-room, the extra living-room, the two bedrooms and the bathroom by the warm wooden ceilings and wainscoting. There is an additional WC in the flat.
The kitchen is fully equipped and features an additional, wood-burning range.
From the flat's deck you can look out into the mountains reaching about 4400 feet.
The grounds, situated in a quiet rural idyll offer playgrounds, a play-house, a large barbecue and a spacious pavillion.
Inside you may use the common room equipped with dishwasher and guest library (ca. 100 Engl. book) or the adjoining table-tennis room.
Special features
Guests arriving without a car can arrange to get picked up by us at the railway station in Passau.
We show traditional crafts on our small farm, such as spinning wool and flax, beaking bread and making ropes.
Two in our family have fluent English.

Location and surroundings
Altreichenau offers an indoor climbing facility, a beach volleyball site and fishing opportunities. Some hiking trails pass right outside our grounds. The Bavarian Woods National Park is only 11 miles away and the cities of Waldkirchen and Freyung a mere 8 to 9 miles. Passau, the beautiful city upon three rivers with its castle and cathedral is little more than 27 miles distant.
The meeting point of Bavaria, Austria, and the Czech Republic about 8 miles away lets you enjoy different cultures and different scenery even on foot or riding a bicycle.
Our low mountain range satisfies all kinds of cultural, nature-loving or sportive interests with two national forests within easy range and even the UN cultural world-heritage town Cesky Krumlov.
