The vacation rental
We had searching for some time for private self-catering villas in Madeira, as an alternative to the mainstream apartments, when we were shown this villa with its own pool, nestling above the samll town of Ponta Delgada. The Luxury of having one's own house breathtaking views of the sea nad the dramatic north coast of Madeira plus a private swimming pool was too much to resist. ( 5x3m - 1,2m deep) The house itself is simply but comfortably furnished in an eclectic mix of stules, both old and new. Outside, the terrace circles the house providing enough room for larger parties to escape one another only regroup to watch the sun to go down over the sea below. The large living-dining room has access to the terrace and views of the sea and plenty of seating for groups of six. |

The surrounding area
The octogonal pool provides a perfect place to cool off and is tucked away to the rear of the house under the atchful eye of a venerable palm tree. Beneath the house are vineyards and the town of Ponta Delgada, offering a couple of restaurants, small shops and a bank. For the more adventurous, there are natural sea-water bathing pools at the far end of the town and a variety of eateries and shops can be found under ten minutes drive away to São vicente.
