The Holiday Apartments

Noddsdale is 2 miles from the centre of Largs, a busy town on the Firth of Clyde.

The Bell Loft was the former servants quarters and has now been completely refurbished to a luxurious standard. It has 2 bedrooms with either a superking or single beds. There are 2 bathrooms, both with baths and showers (one over bath) and a living room/dining/kitchen. There is also a sofabed in the living room.

The East Wing, ideal for 2, is a one-bedroom flat which was converted in the 1920's from the original farm buildings to form a guest wing for Noddsdale House. It is most attractive and the sitting room is particularly unusual with a pitched wooden ceiling. Sleeping 4 with the sofabed, this is a special place full of character.

Special features

There is a tennis court in the grounds which you can use. Bring your own racquets, if you have them, or borrow ours! We regret the house is not suitable for children under 10 years old.

Additional amenities

There is a hard tennis court in the garden, which was re-surfaced in 2010, and which you are more than welcome to use as long as you have the right footwear. You can walk up the hill behind the house for the most beautiful views over the Firth of Clyde. We upgraded our Hydro Electric Scheme in 2010 and a new pipeline was laid from a weir down to the Dam and then to the new Power House at the bottom of the hill. If you are interested, we could show you the old and the new power houses!

Location and surroundings

Set in mature grounds surrounded by woodland, gardens, shrubs and hills, Noddsdale is a beautiful setting for a holiday.

There are many golf courses, islands and castles to visit in Ayrshire as well as Argyll. Glasgow is an hour away by car or train.

Arrival

Arriving in Largs by car, either from the North via Greenock on the A76, or from the South from Ayr or from the A737/A760 from Glasgow, come to the seafront. At the north end take a left turn into Douglas St signed for Brisbane Glen Road; from the south drive to the north end of the esplanade and take a right turn into Douglas Street.

From Douglas Street: follow the road into Brisbane Glen, past Kilburn Water (a cul-de-sac) on the left and the cemetery on the right. Once past the restriction signs take the third entrance on the right marked Private Road and drive up the hedge lined avenue – Noddsdale House is at the top. Come to the front of the house where you will be met by one of us and shown to either the Bell Loft or East Wing.

Noddsdale Estate is a family concern and whilst I look after the bookings, my parents live in Noddsdale House and it is usually my mother who greets you on arrival. However my husband and I live very close and are usually in the garden!
