The vacation rental

The Farmhouse (sleeps 6) is our largest holiday cottage, the sitting room has an original stone floor and an impressive inglenook fireplace with two bread ovens and a wood burning stove. There is comfortable seating and a TV with VCR/DVD/CD player. The farmhouse kitchen has an oil-fired Rayburn and is fully equipped (including microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker). The separate dining room also serves as a second sitting room, with dining table and chairs, comfortable seating and another TV. There are three bedrooms upstairs (a double and two twins), a bathroom (with large corner bath, hand basin, WC, and heated towel rail) and a separate shower room/WC. All bedrooms have southerly views overlooking the courtyard.

The surrounding area

Exmoor Cottage Holidays is a small group of comfortable holiday cottages converted from a former farm, each with a wood burning stove. The cottages are surrounded by three acres of colourful and interesting gardens, including a wildlife pond, various lawned and wooded areas, and a charming path up and around Humphrey’s Hill.

The cottages are in Challacombe, a small parish in the Exmoor National Park, and are ideally placed to explore the heart of Exmoor and the spectacular coastline of North Devon. Challacombe has excellent local amenities; a friendly local shop/Post Office; and an Inn (The Black Venus) offering very good food, real ales, and a traditional atmosphere.

Leave the M5 at J27 and take the A361 towards Barnstaple.
Turn right just after South Molton and take the A399 towards Ilfracombe and Combe Martin.
Several miles past Brayford, turn right along the B3358 towards Simonsbath.
